Park Tysiąclecia, Toruń, Poland

Park Tysiąclecia (Millennium Park), situated on the left bank of the city, is a space of particular natural and cultural value visited not only by the inhabitants of Toruń who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, but also by tourists following the trail of 19th century monuments, an example of which are the remains of the Prussian fortress bordering the park, commonly known as Toruń Fortress. Over the years, the park has lost its original function. The space has taken on a completely new character and the layout of the site has been significantly transformed. Wishing to exploit the potential that lay in this nearly 20 ha area, and also to meet the expectations of the inhabitants, the City of Toruń decided to continue a social initiative that had already begun in the 1960s and decided to revitalise the largest recreational area in the left-bank part of the city, i.e. Park Tysiąclecia. In addition to the modernisation of walking paths, separation of the bicycle route and designation of the running track, the park has been enriched with numerous small architectural elements, including benches, bicycle stands, information boards, as well as hammocks, deck chairs and park tables, which make up the park recreation area. A playground was made available to the youngest inhabitants, and for those who like to spend their time actively, a multifunctional sports field and an outdoor gym were created. When planning the lighting of this type of space, it is important to remember to provide all visitors to the park with safety, comfort, and at the same time the enjoyment of using the green area. This is why our AVENIDA LED luminaires can be found in Park Tysiąclecia, which mark the paths with light. The project also made use of RUNA 4 LED decorative ground luminaires and POWERLUG LED floodlights, which perfectly illuminate the architectural features. Park Tysiąclecia is an example of an investment where lighting complements the character of the investment while responding to the contemporary needs of users.
