"This is a major step towards modernity and care for the safety of Legnica’s residents. Thanks to this investment, streets will be better lit, energy bills will be lower, we will look after the environment and the comfort of residents."
Jacek Baszczyk, Deputy Mayor of Legnica
PROJECT SPECIFICATION:
2627 luminaires replaced
78% energy savings
Innovative control system
Legnica has for centuries developed in the rhythm of movement and exchange, which has shaped its identity. A former capital of a Piast duchy, located on an important trade route, today it is one of the largest cities in the region and a key transport hub in Lower Silesia. The expansion of infrastructure revealed the need to modernise street lighting to meet today’s requirements for safety, energy efficiency and the management of public space.
The modernisation included replacing inefficient sodium luminaires with LED technology and implementing an intelligent control system enabling lighting operation to be managed, energy use to be optimised and incidents to be responded to quickly. LUG Light Factory’s comprehensive solutions — from lighting calculations to system integration — are already helping the city achieve these goals.

Safety as a key priority
Once the modernisation is complete, Legnica’s residents will be safer on 178 streets across the city. Even, standards-compliant light levels improve visibility on roads, crossings and pavements, reducing the risk of accidents and increasing pedestrians’ sense of safety.
The innovative control system enables technical services to respond quickly to damage, ensuring continuity of lighting and shortening response times in situations requiring intervention.
This modernisation is an important step towards a safer and more modern Legnica, showing how light can set a new standard — not only by reducing costs and meeting regulations, but also by genuinely improving residents’ quality of life.
